The BraidBraidNarrow

An auburn braid
Kept in a chest of oak
A woman lost
Of whom he rarely spoke
His mother buried
His father a new bride married
A family farm for prosperity
Lost to the family history
Auburn hair
A single physical remnant
Plaited and brittle
Memory of a life spent
